What is a home sleep study?

An at-home sleep study is an assessment that is used to diagnose a sleep disorder, like obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). It's completed in the comfort and safety of your own home, providing the utmost convenience. After an initial consultation with our Cross Timbers ENT team, you'll be provided a small, portable device that will be used to conduct your home sleep study. Since you'll be performing the test on your own, it's often referred to as an unattended sleep study. To learn more about this diagnostic exam, call our office in Midlothian, Mansfield, or Arlington, TX.

What to expect during a home sleep study

A home sleep study will measure your nasal and oral airflow, oxygen levels, and respiratory function. While it may sound intimidating, an at-home sleep test is rather easy to perform. Our ENT providers will also go over all the instructions in detail with you so you feel confident and know what to expect. The sleep test equipment is usually used for one night to gather sufficient data for our providers. Once completed, you'll return the sleep system to our office, and we'll download and review the recorded information. Next, we'll discuss the findings with you, including your diagnosis and treatment options.
